So I have a friend who is a non-Muslim girl. I used to spend a lot of time with her in the past, and I feel that it has gotten to the point where I have developed feelings for her. She has treated me kindly and I have reciprocated this same treatment to her. I am not in any sort of romantic relationship with her in anyway.
I am well aware that there is a prohibition in Islam for me to get close with non-mahram people, and I am well aware that I am prohibited from engaging in a marital relationship with her as of right now. (She is an atheist.)
I am really conflicted regarding the situation, and I am seeking advice on how I should deal with this situation. I want to continue being friends, and I want to be able to eventually marry her in the forseeable future.
I have made du'a asking Allah to convert her to Islam for over a year now and asked that I be married to her after her conversion. Is it logical for me to be making such a du'a? I am aware that making du'a is one part of making it come true, but I beleive that physical action is required as well. I don't know how I would go about doing that however as I shouldn't even be talking to her.
Can anybody give me advice on how I should be handling this situation?
