As we get closer to Ramadan, it's more important then ever that we guide new converts and the kufar that just wish to fast with us the preparation needed.

I have helped new converts and students from other religious clubs at my university for preparing for Ramadan. One thing that I have learned over the years is that the people without preparation often do not last the whole day or if they do they become sick. It's important that we provide a starting basis for the fast. Introduce half a day fast or only dates fast before Ramadan starts to get them ready. I have seen new converts think they can just drink coffee for Suhoor and end up with the worst stomachache of their lives. I have seen my friends from other religious faiths not even eat anything for Suhoor because they didn't even know there was a Suhoor. It's important that we teach and instruct a preparation so they are not put into the deep end. Then again, the deep end does provide more rewards.
