Can evolution be reconciled with islam?

Well, I know this question was asked many times but I want to hear more ideas. So human evolution appearently contradicts the quranic creation story of Adam&Eve, because there was not a first human couple from which all humans descended.We evolved from primats and not from two persons.Today there is scientific consensus on this issue. In order this theory to fit the islamic creation story, the following questions should be considered;

1) Is there any verse or hadith that directly and clearly states that Adam was the first human being in the modern sense? As far as I know there is none.

2) Is there any verse or hadith that says all humans, without exception,are descandents of Adam and Eve.Is there any possibility that some other human-like creatures were present before/with them and they then continued evolving? So not all humans necessarily are from A&E's ancestry?

3)Might Adam have been possibly created with evolutionary process rather than direct creation,some claim this is implied in some quranic verses.

4) Can the whole narrative about A&E be just metaphorical rather than literal?

Some scholars say whoever accepts human evolution commits shirk since it allegedly goes against islamic primary sources.

I would like to read comments referenced with verses and authentic hadiths.
