Hello,
I hope everyone is having a good Ramadan.
I am a type 1 diabetic and have been for 21 years now. Last year I started getting complications from my diabetes. I have an issue where I deal with constant nausea. I have also been diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy, the process of beginning to go blind due to leaking vessels.
I have been using medical cannabis to ease the nausea and it is the only thing I have found that helps. I tend to eat it rather than smoke it due to my diabetic retinopathy. I also use it for my diabetic retinopathy and out of my own research I have found out that the medical College of Georgia did a scientific study proving that cannabis compounds greatly help prevent blindness with people who have diabetic retinopathy. Dr Liou of the study says, “Cannabinoids are trying to ease the situation on both sides. They help save the neuron and, at the same time, make sure the microglial cells stay in microglial form. How good do you want a drug to be?”
Obviously going blind is a complication I dont want to face and I will take any measure to prevent it. So far all I have found that prevents it totally is cannabis.
Obviously during Ramadan I waned to quit it. But I find I have been using it after iftar because my nausea is too much. I have tried other things like teas, aroma therapy oils, nutrient supplements like slippery elm but nothing has an anti nausea effect like the medical cannabis does.
So what do I do? I spoke to a Muslim lady who got really mad at me when I asked the same question and she said it is totally forbidden and I should stop it immediately and that there are other things to help it, but when I asked her what she left.
What do I do? I dont want to feel like im doing bad deeds. I need advice on this. Thanks.
