Newbie Ramadan

This is my first Ramadan. I'm a recent convert but I live outside a Muslim community and so I kind of go it alone. I pray by myself, not really at any prescribed time (growing up Christian, I'm am used to praying in a certain way and I'm not entirely aclimated to prostration yet). I stand, looking down at my hands as though I am holding open the Quran. Until today (more on this coming up) I've been fasting from sun-up to sundown.

Also, today, I had to go into a meeting in a small room and knew my breath would be bad if my mouth was dry so I drank right before the meeting. I know this is nowhere near a good enough reason to drink. Is it a waste of time to continue to fast for the rest of the day? I'm thinking I'll make this day up at the end of Ramadan but that's only for proper reasons to break a fast, right?

Starting Ramadan was a big leap of faith for me. I know I'm not perfect yet but I also know that living a life with God is a marathon, not a sprint. Maybe I'm not doing so well at the start but at least I've started I guess.

Thanks for any input you have.
