Before you tell me ask a scholar, I don't have anyone who's an expert on this to contact right now. So I have about one-thirds of my savings in a Halal mutual fund which unfortunately is running at a loss right now due to the recent bad performance of the markets. From what I could gather, since I'm not a habitual trader, and I haven't gotten any profits from this investment, I don't need to pay any Zakat on it. Is this the right interpretation? If any of you have any knowledge on this, please confirm it and reply with sources if possible. Jazakallah khair.
