I don’t follow the opinion that I must pray at the masjid, and it would be too far for me to be fard if I did, anyway.
That being said, if my mother tells me to pray at home instead of the masjid, do I have to obey her? Tbh i believe she is telling me that because she thinks i’m getting “too religious.” When I used to hang out with my friends all day, it wasn’t an issue. Now that I’m at the masjid for the same amount of time, it’s a problem...
What if my father could use my help around the building we live in (he’s a handyman of sorts), but it’s not exactly required. He can do the work himself, but it’s much easier if I help him. Can I tell him to wait until I come back “from hanging out with some friends” (so I can catch the jama’a)?
If it changes anything, i’m in my mid 20’s and live with my parents. My one brother moved out so i want to live with my parents. I can easily financially support myself, however.
