I grew up in a very strict religious household, but due to some deep childhood trauma, i pulled myself away from the religion. I have recently been striving to come back to it the last couple weeks (its been very difficult for me and i have no idea where to start sometimes) but found something that has been deeply bothering me. According to many people, art (especially drawing people and trying to copy nature) is haram because you are trying to copy God? However, I am, and have been since I was very little, an illustrator and concept artist. I paint digital portraits of fantasy and sci-fi characters, design creatures, and paint and design fantasy landscapes, transportations, even something as simple as food vendor stalls. What i design then goes into the design of a game, movie, tv show, or anything in the entertainment area. I have always loved to design and draw, and cannot imagine my life without it. I have absolutely ZERO intention of my work being worshipped to, or trying to copy god, or anything of that nature. I just enjoy creating something beautiful for people to enjoy. I have a huge imagination of fantasy places , peoples and creatures and just love to draw them out and share them with the world.
On the one hand, people are saying it is haram. On the other hand, others are saying because of my intentions, and because of the current day and age where art and movies and such are common so it would not become confused to become something to pray to , its alright.
I'm very confused and very sad and would love some input on the subject.
